State Representative Dave Yaccarino joined educators and manufacturers at the 5th Annual Materials Manufacturing Summer Teachers’ Institute held at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) on Tuesday, July, 25.
Rep. Yaccarino met with the SCSU president and various administrators at the high school and university level to speak on behalf of the House Republican party regarding the importance of Connecticut’s manufacturing, science and technology sectors.
“I was honored to have the opportunity to speak with manufacturers and educators from New Haven County,” said Rep. Yaccarino, the ranking member of the legislature’s Commerce Committee. “Connecticut needs to focus on growing high-paying, sustainable jobs within the manufacturing and science sectors. It is important that we work to develop a pro-business economic climate so that manufacturing in this state can thrive as it once did in years prior. I am pleased to see that we are working to educate the next generation of workers.”
According to Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), Connecticut is home to 4,011 manufacturing firm, which employs 159,000 workers.
