The past few weeks have been eventful for the Girl Scouts of North Haven as they commemorated the 113th anniversary of Girl Scouts in the United States through a series of special activities and engagements.
The celebrations began with a visit to the North Haven First Selectman’s meeting, where First Selectman Michael Freda officially proclaimed it Girl Scout Week in North Haven. This recognition highlighted the organization’s ongoing contributions to the community and the positive impact of Girl Scouts in shaping young leaders.

In addition, two senior Girl Scouts had the honor of attending the first Girl Scout Day at the State Capitol since the pandemic. There, they had the opportunity to sit in the People’s House, engage with numerous state legislators, and even take part in a special pinning ceremony, inducting select legislators into the Girl Scouts. Governor Ned Lamont also issued a proclamation, which was read aloud, declaring it Girl Scout Week across the entire state of Connecticut.
As part of the celebrations, North Haven Girl Scouts also hosted their second annual Pinewood Derby, where participants built and raced cars according to official specifications. The event featured competitions for both Elementary School-level and Middle/High School-level Girl Scouts, with winners recognized in each category.
These exciting events led up to another major milestone—the start of Girl Scout Cookie season! North Haven Girl Scouts are now delivering pre-ordered cookies and hosting booth sales at local businesses throughout the area. Community members can support the organization by visiting a booth near them—locations can be found using the Cookie Finder at GSofCT.org.
