Quinnipiac University will host the photography exhibit, “Ukraine: War and Resistance,” from April 8-June 15 in the first floor class room corridor of the Center for Communications, Computing and Engineering, Room 101, on the Mount Carmel Campus, 275 Mount Carmel Ave.
The exhibit is a traveling project by Fulbright Ukraine & Institute of International Education (IIE) Kyiv Office, in partnership with various co-organizers in the U.S. and Europe.
With the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine, a cohort of Fulbright photographers found themselves at the epicenter of momentous events, equipped with their own weapons of defense: knowledge and a camera. They managed to capture the tragic and heroic, devastating and hopeful moments of the present life in Ukraine.
Most of the photographs were taken after the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, yet some date as early as 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine and annexed the Crimean Peninsula.
The featured photographers are almost all Fulbright alumni who are either from Ukraine or American Fulbrighters to Ukraine who have lived and worked for several years or more within the country.
The Fulbright program is one of the most prestigious exchange programs in the world.
In fall 2022, “Ukraine: War and Resistance,” debuted at the Vinnytsia museum in Ukraine. Its geography expanded to the U.S., Germany, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The exhibit at Quinnipiac University is made possible thanks to the close collaboration between the Novak Family Endowed Polish Chair at the Central European Institute (CEI) and the School of Communications.
