Blending shared values of ambition and entrepreneurship, Quinnipiac and Stony Creek Brewery have partnered to launch a new beer, Bobcat Golden Lager. A portion of every sale will fuel student entrepreneurship grants designed to help Bobcats succeed in launching new business ventures.
The fund will be accessible to all Quinnipiac students and will be stewarded by Mostafa Analoui, the Carlton Highsmith Endowed Chair of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Quinnipiac.
Based in Branford, Stony Creek Brewery embodies the independent spirit of entrepreneurship and stands out as a regional craft brewery dedicated to developing mindful partnerships, said Michael Kassa, Quinnipiac’s associate vice president for corporate partnerships.
“This is very familiar territory to them, and community involvement is very important to the Crowley family that owns Stony Creek Brewery. Because of that, they were the right partner for us,” said Kassa.
Stony Creek Brewery President Ed Crowley Jr. said the brewery and Quinnipiac share guiding principles of quality, innovation, a people-first mindset, and a desire to support the community.
“We share the same love and passion for our local community, always striving for excellence and having the highest of standards,” said Crowley. “We are especially proud that a portion of all sales of Bobcat Golden Lager will go into a student entrepreneur fund, assisting Quinnipiac students in funding their business endeavors.”
Stony Creek Brewery executives will act as mentors and advisers to assist the fund’s student entrepreneurs. To impact the broader Quinnipiac community, Stony Creek Brewery will tap into Quinnipiac student talent as a resource for a variety of internship and employment opportunities. Campuswide, Stony Creek Brewery executives will participate in guest lectures, as discussion panel members, and in other entrepreneurship and business building opportunities.
Bobcat Golden Lager will debut on Friday, Oct. 6 to kick-off Bobcat Weekend, when the light and crisp lager will also become available at many area locations. The new beer’s blue and gold label features Boomer, Quinnipiac’s beloved Bobcat mascot. The Bobcat Golden Lager will give alumni and friends of the university the opportunity to celebrate Quinnipiac while supporting student entrepreneurs.
“We welcome you to try Bobcat Golden Lager in local bars, restaurants and package stores and thank you for supporting Quinnipiac student entrepreneurs in the process,” said Crowley.
