On Monday, May 18, 2021, State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) joined CT Coalition to End Homelessness and other advocates outside of the State Capitol to push for more funding to combat homelessness in Connecticut.
“I joined CT Coalition to End Homelessness along with advocates to discuss the need to direct funding from the American Rescue Plan Act towards housing for Connecticut’s homeless population and added support for the homeless crisis response system. We cannot neglect the issue of homelessness, which is already underfunded in this state. The issue of homelessness must be addressed in negotiations going forward so that our state can provide dire help where it is needed and be proactive in combating this human rights issue,” said Rep. Yaccarino.
“I am proud to share that I joined my House Republican Caucus in designating $15 million over two years to combat homelessness and domestic abuse in our American Rescue Plan Act proposal. Unfortunately, Majority Party Democrats and the governor have allocated zero dollars towards this important issue,” added Rep. Yaccarino.
