Paul Cicarella, State Senate candidate for the 34th District, has received unanimous support from Republican delegates at the 34th district nominating convention including the towns of North Haven, East Haven, Wallingford and Durham.
At the virtual nominating convention, which took place on Monday, May 18, 2020, Cicarella was nominated by North Haven First Selectman Mike Freda and seconded by State Senator Len Fasano. Senator Fasano is not seeking reelection this year and has been a strong supporter of Cicarella to serve in the seat being vacated by Fasano.
“I am extremely honored to have earned the trust and support of every Republican delegate at the 34th District nominating convention, and deeply humbled by the incredible grassroots support that has emerged over these last few weeks. I am so thankful to the hundreds of residents who have supported me in such a short period of time. So many people are engaged and excited about this campaign and believe in a vision for a stronger Connecticut. I am honored to be working to make that vision a reality and am grateful for the strong community support,” said Cicarella.
Senator Len Fasano (R-34) said, “Now more than ever Connecticut needs lawmakers who will listen to the public, hear their voices, and fight for what’s right. Our community is so lucky to have Paul who is beyond ready to tackle that challenge and give our residents a strong voice in Hartford. He cares deeply about our state and our local towns and has a clear vision for a better and brighter future. I am honored that he is stepping up to run for the seat I have long held and loved serving. The 34th District will be in great hands with Paul as its next state senator.”
“Paul is an outstanding candidate whose focus, discipline and business background are complemented by a fine set of interpersonal skills to serve our citizens. His background in implementing solid financial management skills will also be a great benefit to us in the 34th district and our state,” stated First Selectman Mike Freda (R-North Haven).
Cicarella added, “While the current situation has made it difficult to meet with people face to face, the enthusiasm and excitement is clearly all around us. I hope I will soon be able to meet with and talk to many more residents of North Haven, East Haven, Wallingford and Durham about how I plan to build a better and brighter future for our communities and our state. Connecticut needs to put people before politics. Now more than ever, we need to look at common sense solutions to address the real-life challenges working- and middle-class families face every day.”
“Senator Len Fasano leaves behind a legacy of dedication to our state, fighting for what’s right no matter the challenges, and giving residents a strong and powerful voice at the State Capitol,” said Cicarella. “I am honored to have Sen. Fasano’s full support and am committed to carrying his legacy forward with a new generation of leadership. I have built a campaign team with representation from all four towns in the 34th district and I am excited to continue sharing our message and listening to residents across Durham, East Haven, North Haven and Wallingford. I love our state. I grew up here and I’m raising my family here. Now more than ever we need to continue the good work of people like Senator Fasano to strengthen our state, create opportunity for all people to succeed, and address the unique challenges that lie ahead.”
