The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) and the Connecticut Coalition Against Bed Bugs (CCABB) invites the public, media and other interested parties to attend the forum, “Bed Bugs Meet the Law,” which will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences auditorium at Quinnipiac University, 370 Bassett Road.
On October 1, 2016, the Public Act 16-51, “An Act Concerning the Rights and Responsibilities of Landlords and Tenant Regarding the Treatment of Bed Bug Infestations” took effect. It provides a legal framework for landlords and tenants to respond to bed bug infestations in buildings and appropriate timely remedies. The forum will explain the law and how it dovetails into the biology of the insect and best management practices. The forum will offer an opportunity to answer questions and for public discourse.
Seating is limited. To register, click here.
The Connecticut Coalition Against Bed Bugs (CCABB) was formally founded in Fall 2009 at CAES to bring together entomological, health, management, industry, and legal expertise to address increasing bed bug issues in Connecticut. Committee members represent CAES, the Connecticut Departments of Public Health, Energy and Environmental Protection, Consumer Protection, and Chief State’s Attorney’s office housing matters, local health departments, and pest management professionals.
