North Haven voters will have an opportunity to meet candidates for town offices, and enjoy a BBQ next month.
The North Haven Democratic Town Committee will host the event on September 8th at the American Legion Hall in town.
“We have an exceptionally strong group of candidates this year,” said Democratic Town Chairman Walt Spader. “This will be a perfect opportunity for voters to talk with the people who will be on the ballot this fall.”
The candidates attending will include John Bimonte, running for First Selectman; Sally Buemi, running for re-election as Third Selectman; Alan Sturtz, for Town Clerk; and Steve Gifford, for Town Treasurer. The party is also supporting Dot Logan and September Baraquin for Board of Education.
John Bimonte, a coach, small business owner, lifelong town resident, and town employee, highlighted his campaigning experiences so far. “Everywhere I go in town, I talk to people who see North Haven not living up to its full potential,” he said. He pledged a focus on helping new and existing small businesses.
Joel Rudikoff, the DTC Vice Chair, highlighted the experience of the Board of Education candidates. “We’re supporting Dot, who taught in North Haven for thirty years, and September, who is a 16-year music teacher and parent of two young kids at Green Acres. There’s no substitute for this depth of experience.”
